2009 Janice M. Hickey Scholarship Foundation

The Janice M. Hickey Scholarship Foundation was created in 1995 in memory of Jan Hickey, A former MeQHA President and Director. The Foundations only purpose is to further and financially aid the formal education of Maine Quarter Horse Youth Association's members. Each year two Scholarships, One In-state and one out-of-state, are available to deserving members who meet the required standards.

The 2009 Scholarship is awarded to a MeQHA member who has met all requirements and has been involved in such community services as The Maine Special Olympics - Equine Games, Track and Field, Windham Athletic Boosters, The Windham Fire and Rescue, St Dom's Athletic Boosters and is a Recipient of the Androscoggin County 4-H Most Community Service Award , MeQHA's Justin Rookie of the Year in 2007, She received multiple year-end awards and The Janice M. Hickey Perpetual Trophy - High Point Youth Award as well as being a Finalist at the All American Quarter Horse Congress in 2008. She is MeQHYA's Current President.

The Janice M. Hickey Scholarship Foundation is proud to award this year’s scholarship to Taylor Duncanson, the daughter of Lisa and Richard Duncanson Jr. of Raymond, Maine. Taylor will attend Centenary College where her Major will be Equine Studies and a Bachelor of Science Degree is anticipated.
